Earn Your Wings Book and Speakers Tour Honors Crime Victims Week with Transformative Events in North Carolina
The Earn Your Wings Book and Speakers Tour is a global movement amplifying the voices of crime survivors and advocating for meaningful change at local, state, and national levels. Through compelling storytelling, survivors share their journeys of triumph, healing, and advocacy, raising awareness about victim needs and fostering community engagement to reduce and prevent crime. Following National Crime Victims' Rights Week, the tour will continue to North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Texas, Louisiana, and New York to further its mission.
April 6, 2025: Virtual Kickoff of Crime Victims Week & Earn Your Wings Book and Speakers Tour

The week will begin with a virtual kickoff event, bringing together survivors from around the world. This powerful gathering will serve as an opportunity for survivors to share their stories, inspire resilience, and create a global network of support. The event will feature:
Testimonies from survivors who have turned their pain into purpose
Keynote speakers from the Earn Your Wings Book and Speakers Tour
Interactive discussions on healing, advocacy, and justice
A call to action for communities to support victims of crime

April 10, 2025: National Hybrid Storytelling & Vigil for Survivors
Treasure Chest Events, Fayetteville, NC
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
This hybrid event will provide a national platform for survivors to share their experiences and foster healing. The evening will conclude with an in-person candlelight vigil, symbolizing resilience and honoring those impacted by crime. Local law enforcement officers and the Domestic Violence Council are invited to hear firsthand accounts from survivors, creating a bridge between victims and the justice system. Additionally, civic engagement discussions will take place, offering a space for dialogue between community members and policymakers.
April 11, 2025: Healing Festival

A restorative gathering celebrating resilience and healing. Activities include:
Survivor Mural Creation – An interactive mural where survivors share messages of hope.
Live Music & Poetry – Performances by local artists to inspire and uplift.
Self-Care Activities – Wellness stations featuring meditation, aromatherapy, and massages.
Vendor Booths – Showcasing self-care products and services.
This festival fosters connection among survivors, families, and the community, emphasizing strength and recovery.
April 12, 2025: Self-Defense is Self-Care Interactive Event & Community Resource Fair & Cookout
Luxe District Social & Brookwood Inn, Charlotte, NC

Empowering crime survivors and underserved individuals with self-defense training, critical resources, and community support. Activities include:
Resource Booths – Information on housing, mental health, legal rights, and victim services.
Self-Care & Self-Defense Vendors – Providing tools for safety and personal well-being.
Community Cookout – Free meals for attendees, with a special focus on the homeless community in the Sugar Creek Corridor.
This event serves as a beacon of empowerment and support for survivors and at-risk individuals.
