Also in the interview she talks about her rise, and inspiration as a budding writer as well, among many other things. Read all about Veronica Thornton in this concise, yet informative one on one interview.
Blacktopia: How would you describe your style as a writer and poetess?
Veronica Thornton: When I write poetry it usually comes out lyrical. There is a natural rhythm that seems to apparent in my work. Many times it’s unintentional. When writing other things it really depends on the content and what I’m trying to say. In that instance there is usually something beyond the surface I want the reader to take away from it.
Blacktopia: How long have you been writing?
Veronica Thornton: Since I was younger I used writing as an outlet. I had severe eczema as a child on all extremities and there was not much acceptance during that time. Kids could be mean but sometimes adults were the worst. Writing gave me a way to be free from all criticisms that were beyond my scope of control. It also allowed me to create worlds of my own that helped me to accept myself and all my flaws as I quickly learned that the world would make sure they pointed them whenever it suited them.
Blacktopia: What inspires you to write?
Veronica Thornton: Any and everything. A picture, a phrase a situation. Being an observer of life and nature how can one not be inspired.
Blacktopia: What inspired you to write your latest book, The Universal Colloquies Inside of Me?
Veronica Thornton: I write quite a bit and had so much material and I was given the opportunity through Creative Talents Unleashed Publishing to have a book published and I took it. The hardest part was selecting what would go in it and what the focus of it would be as I write on a variety of subjects.
Blacktopia: How would you describe the overall tone of your book?
Veronica Thornton: The overall tone of the book is to look beyond the surface of things as there is always more to the picture than what we see or are presented with. Question what you don’t understand and then question that which you think you understand and the answers are somewhere in between the lines.
Blacktopia: What are top 3 reasons avid readers should purchase your book?
Veronica Thornton: Avid readers should purchase this book because there’s something there for everyone. It is a conversation waiting to be had. It takes the reader on a journey where they determine the destination as they may get a different perspective on some things and question others. It is as entertaining as it is informative and reflective of life.
Blacktopia: Are you considering writing other types of projects or even other forms of media?
Veronica Thornton: Yes I have been dabbling with several different things. I have the ability to write about anything it is really a matter of learning the different formats for each form of art that I wish to apply myself to.
Blacktopia: Is there something you would like to tell us about yourself and the book that we haven't covered in this interview so far?
Veronica Thornton: I’m a listener, an observer and this is reflected in my book. There are many people that have something to say and don’t know how to say it. Just as there are many people that are trying to be heard yet think no one is listening. My book “Universal Colloquies Inside of Me” lets those and others know someone is listening, someone has been through something similar but the one thing that is consistent throughout my whole book is that there is always more to the story and sometimes the answers are staring us right in the face letting us know that everything will work out fine if we just keep moving forward with positive intentions.
Blacktopia: Is there anything else you would like to plug, any shout outs or mentions?
I would like to say Thank you to Creative Talents Unleashed for giving me the opportunity to see my words in print. Thank you to those that have supported me while I have been on this journey and especially a Big Thank you and shout out to Blacktopia for all their efforts and supporting artists of all kinds amongst our community.

Universal Colloquies Inside of Me
by
Veronica Thornton (Vee)
Brief Synopsis
Universal Colloquies Inside of Me is a book of poetry that asks its readers to have conversations that go beyond the surface. It takes you on a journey in philosophy, sociology, self-awareness, and love while using rhythmic eloquence to highlight often felt yet unexpressed feelings and circumstances. The author utilizes nature in a variation of ways to illustrate how we are all connected and the messages and life lessons really are universal. Although, they are often transmitted and received in different ways. From the beginning Vee tells you exactly who she is in the poem entitled “Who Am I” as she addresses all of those things within the pages to follow. It is a book that will leave you feeling inspired while also giving you a different perspective about some things. Overall it will definitely lead to having deeper conversations also known as colloquies.Available at:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDXXA9Y/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=produ0f7-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B01CDXXA9Y&linkId=c7a452a628b69d7c053cd5a23867673d
